With over 160 million items, the Library of Congress is the largest library in the world. But this impressive collection features more than books. Highlights include: the oldest known portrait in America, Lewis and Clark's original maps, the original "Star Spangled Banner," the Gutenberg Bible, 140,000 issues of comic books and so much more.

Preserving One Square Inch of Silence

In 2005, he resolved to find the quietest place in Washington's Hoh rainforest, itself a haven of silence. The area Hempton found is precisely one square inch.
